[{"id":1454,"date":"2026-04-16T15:27:36","date_gmt":"2026-04-16T22:27:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/santaclarita.gov\/city-council\/?p=1454"},"modified":"2026-04-16T15:27:37","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T22:27:37","slug":"april-14-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/santaclarita.gov\/city-council\/blog\/2026\/04\/16\/april-14-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"April 14, 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The following is a recap of the City Council regular meeting of April 14, 2026:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Highlights of actions taken include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Proclaimed<a> <\/a>April 2026 as Autism Acceptance Month and National Volunteer Month.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conducted a public hearing, held a first reading, and passed to a second reading an ordinance regarding amendments to the Santa Clarita Municipal Code\u2019s accessory dwelling unit ordinance and two-unit development ordinance, and implementation of Housing Element Policy HP-2.1, pertaining to zoning for several housing types.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adopted the City of Santa Clarita\u2019s Fiscal Year 2026-27 Statement of Investment Policy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Awarded a design contract to Architerra Design Group, for the Newhall Community Center Playground Renovation Project, for a total contract amount not to exceed $82,192.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Accepted a donation of Judith Modrak\u2019s artwork, <em>Endangered Fossils<\/em>, located at West Creek Park into the City of Santa Clarita\u2019s permanent public art collection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Awarded contracts to Beam Global, ChargePoint, Inc., and H&amp;S Electric, Inc., for the purchase and installation of three electric vehicle chargers at the Transit Maintenance Facility, for a total contract amount not to exceed $198,294, $57,222 and $47,300, respectively.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Extended the contract with MV Transportation, Inc., for the operation and maintenance of the City\u2019s transit service system through June 28, 2028, in an amount not to exceed $32,056,649 in Fiscal Year 2026-27.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adjourned the meeting in memory of Richard Patterson and Richard S. Corporation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conducted a public hearing and introduced an ordinance with proposed amendments related to the City of Santa Clarita\u2019s Oak Tree Regulations, which would establish a ministerial permit pathway for the removal of oak trees on existing single-family residential properties when an existing, qualifying structure is located within the tree\u2019s fall zone, allowing homeowners to responsibly address proximity-related concerns while maintaining mitigation requirements and preserving the broader oak tree preservation framework.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Approved the replacement of the City\u2019s network firewall hardware from Lanair Group, LLC, for a total contract amount not to exceed $185,252.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Awarded a contract to Lighting Technology Services, Inc. dba LTS Property Services, for the purchase and installation of a network lighting control system at the McBean Regional Transit Center, for a total contract amount not to exceed $165,196.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Awarded a contract to Connexionz Limited for the purchase, installation, and configuration of the onboard Intelligent Transportation System on seven New Flyer Hydrogen Fuel Cell transit buses, for a total contract amount not to exceed $74,067.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Awarded a construction contract to ABC Liovin Drilling, Inc., for DBAA 24 Well Redevelopments, Project M4015, District\u2019s resolutions approving and accepting the negotiated exchange of property tax revenues resulting from Santa Clarita Valley Sanitation District Annexation Nos. 1134, 1137, and 1143 to provide wastewater treatment services to properties located outside the District\u2019s service area.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adopted a resolution approving the annual rate adjustment request for Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc., contingent upon the implementation of Los Angeles County\u2019s proposed residential rate in the unincorporated areas of the Santa Clarita Valley, effective January 1,
