Santa Clarita Rideshare Week Begins October 3

SANTA CLARITA RIDESHARE WEEK BEGINS OCTOBER 3

Residents Can Win A Prize by Posting How They Rideshare on Social Media

Santa Clarita residents are encouraged to use alternative modes of transportation during Rideshare Week beginning Monday, October 3, lasting through Friday, October 7. Alternative modes of transportation include walking, biking, carpooling, riding the Metrolink or Santa Clarita Transit while traveling across the City to commute to work, school and other local destinations. Participants will be entered into a FREE prize raffle after posting their Rideshare Week activities on social media using the hashtag #RideshareSC.

Using modes of transportation, besides driving in a car alone, reduces greenhouse gas emissions and helps relieve traffic congestion, resulting in improving air quality and promoting a healthy lifestyle. The City offers residents an expansive network of trails that can be used to walk or bike to destinations. Participants can also carpool with a coworker, friend or family member in addition to using public transportation options, including Santa Clarita Transit and the Metrolink. Raffle winners will be contacted shortly after the conclusion of Rideshare Week. Participants can visit SantaClaritaTransit.com to view a full list of routes that connect to their destination during the week-long program.

The City of Santa Clarita will also join the state for California Clean Air Day on Wednesday, October 5. In observance of this statewide recognized day, all City-owned electric vehicle charging stations will be free to use on October 5 only. Electric vehicle owners can visit GreenSantaClarita.com to view a full list of local charging stations.
