City of Santa Clarita Press Release

Wags All Around – Dogs Adopted at Bridgeport Park

The City of Santa Clarita is proud to share the success of last week’s Pet Adoption Day, held at Bridgeport Park, in collaboration with the Castaic Animal Care Center. The event brought together local families and animal lovers for a morning filled with compassion, play and community connection.

Throughout the event, attendees met adoptable dogs from the Castaic Animal Care Center, with five dogs finding their forever homes. Adoption fees were waived by the City to encourage adoptions during the busy summer intake season.

In addition to pet adoptions, families enjoyed hands-on activities with the City’s Youth Sports Pop Up and Play team, which brought free games and equipment for kids to enjoy on the field. The Santa Clarita Public Library’s Library Express was also on-site, offering book checkouts and reading opportunities for all ages. Even the City’s very own Sammy Clarita was there to pet pups, and hand out high fives to our littlest residents.

Following the Bridgeport Park event, the Castaic Animal Care Center hosted a weekend adoption event of its own, resulting in 21 additional pet adoptions.

Throughout the month of August, the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control will participate in the nationwide Clear the Shelter campaign, waiving all adoption fees for all cats and dogs, including the spay/neuter and microchip fees. If you are considering adopting a pet, please visit the Castaic Animal Care Center at 31044 Charlie Canyon Road or browse available animals online at AnimalCare.LACounty.gov.

For more information on the upcoming adoption event, please contact the City’s Community Preservation Division at (661) 286-4076.
