Discover Meaning in the Balance Between What is Seen and What is Felt
The City of Santa Clarita is pleased to present its latest art exhibition, A Conversation Under the Sun, by Tim Forcum, on view now through Wednesday, November 12, at the Santa Clarita Public Library Old Town Newhall Library Branch (24500 Main Street). This exhibition features 11 framed gouache-on-paper pieces that invite viewers to engage with abstraction as both a visual and emotional language, encouraging reflection on the connections between memory, nature and artistic expression. Gouache-on-paper is a painting made with opaque, water-based paint, similar to watercolor, but with richer pigments for a matte, vibrant finish.
Forcum’s paintings highlight the dialogue between abstract form and lived experience, where vivid color fields, layered gestures and shifting shapes suggest both the physical environment and the inner landscape of memory. His work asks viewers to notice subtle transitions and discover meaning in the balance between what is seen and what is felt.
In Forcum’s words, “My work is an ongoing investigation into the ability of abstract painting to create a personal pictorial language. With suggestions of landscape or figuration, there is a tension created between spontaneity and calculation, gesture and rendering.”
