Tonight, we adjourn our meeting in memory of a prominent and deeply influential figure in Santa Clarita’s faith and academic communities—Pastor John MacArthur.

Pastor MacArthur passed away last month at the age of 86, after more than 40 years of dedicated service as the president and later chancellor of The Master’s University here in Santa Clarita.

He began his leadership, at what was then Los Angeles Baptist College in 1985, helping to transform it into The Master’s University, a nationally recognized Christian institution.

In 1986, he founded The Master’s Seminary, training generations of men for ministry around the world.

His vision, theological leadership and unwavering commitment to Scripture have left a lasting mark on thousands of students, faculty and families.

Beyond the university, Pastor MacArthur was the longtime leader of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley and the president and voice behind Grace to You, an international ministry that extended his reach far beyond Santa Clarita—sharing sermons, teachings and radio broadcasts across the globe.

Pastor MacArthur also wrote nearly 400 books, which have been translated into over two dozen languages.

He was married to his wife, Patricia, for more than 61 years and was a devoted father to four children; Matt, Marcy, Mark and Melinda; 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

We extend our condolences to the MacArthur family, The Master’s University, Grace Community Church and all who were impacted by his life and ministry.

We adjourn tonight’s meeting in memory of Pastor John MacArthur.
