I would like to adjourn tonight’s meeting in memory of Manuel “Manny” Alejandro Lorenzana Villegas.
Tragically, Manny lost his life while driving the Lady Flyers 12-and-under hockey team to a weekend tournament in Colorado, doing what he did best: showing up for his child and her team.
His passing has deeply impacted not only his family, but the entire Cube community and our City as a whole.
Manny was a devoted father, a loving partner, a son, a brother and a friend.
He was a proud hockey dad, and like so many parents in our community, Manny spent countless hours supporting his daughter and her teammates—giving his time, his energy and his love to the sport and to the young athletes he believed in.
Manny was an amazingly talented tattoo artist and shop owner of Rare Hearts Tattoo Club.
Those who knew Manny describe him as thoughtful, generous and kind—a family man to the core and someone who made everyone feel welcome.
On behalf of the City of Santa Clarita, our thoughts and prayers remain with Manny’s partner April, his daughter Brody, his family and loved ones, as well as those who were injured and continue to recover.
We are also deeply moved by the strength of the Lady Flyers and the overwhelming support shown by The Cube family, the Santa Clarita community and the broader hockey community during this incredibly difficult time.
