Tonight, we adjourn in the memory of Richard S. Musella, father of local community leader, John Musella, and father-in-law of the SCV Chamber’s President/CEO, Ivan Volschenk, who passed away April 6th.
Richard was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and dedicated community leader.
Born in 1937, in Dolgeville, New York, Rich was one of nine children born to Italian immigrants who proudly became United States citizens. His father, a veteran of World War I, instilled in Richard a deep sense of duty and service — values that would define his life.
Following in that tradition, Richard answered his country’s call and served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict, stationed in Seoul, South Korea.
To those who knew him, Rich was not simply a civic participant — he was a cornerstone of his community of Westchester for over five decades and even served as their Chamber’s Executive Director before his retirement. And I can say with certainty that his example of civic leadership inspired our own local civic leaders, John and Ivan, which is reflected in all they do and have done, for Santa Clarita. Rich Musella leaves behind a legacy as enduring as the community he spent a lifetime building.
