We adjourn tonight’s meeting in memory of John C. “Jack” Stewart, a remarkable Santa Clarita resident whose life was defined by service, adventure and an unwavering enthusiasm for every opportunity that came his way.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Jack served our country with honor in the United States Navy, traveling the world aboard the USS Safeguard as a hard-hat diver.
After his military service, he built a successful career while also pursuing a lifelong passion for photography, diving and storytelling.
Jack and his wife, Diane, made Santa Clarita their home in 1981, where they raised their daughters, Heather and Kina.
Whether he was coaching softball, photographing school events or cheering on his family, Jack embraced every moment of fatherhood with love and enthusiasm.
Retirement only opened the door to new adventures.
Known to many as “Kansas City Jack,” he became active in cowboy action shooting, which unexpectedly led to a successful acting career.
He appeared in television shows including ER, Glee and Home Improvement.
Closer to home, Jack gave back to the community through his volunteer service with Friends of Hart Park and at our Tesoro Adobe Historic Park, sharing his time and talents to help preserve Santa Clarita’s history.
On behalf of the Santa Clarita City Council, we extend our deepest condolences to his wife of 57 years, Diane, his daughters Heather and Kina, and all of his family and friends.
May his memory continue to inspire us to live life with the same joy, generosity and sense of adventure that defined Jack Stewart.
