Coach’s Corner
The foundation of each and every one of our programs is our caring and selfless volunteer coaches. Whether this is a coach’s first season, or they have been coaching teams for years, we work with all of our coaches to ensure that they have the knowledge and tools to help teach their kids the fundamentals of the game. No experience is necessary to be successful as a coach, only a positive attitude and the willingness to develop and teach youth.
Youth Sports requires all interested volunteers to apply for a Head or Assistant Coach position prior to being selected. This process includes documentation and fingerprinting of coaches to ensure the safety of its participants. Coaches that have successfully completed the Volunteer Coach Application will be given a badge, letting both Youth Sports staff and parents know that the coach has been validated through the system.
Coaching positions are a privilege, not a right, and Youth Sports reserves the right to select and remove coaches at any time. Coaches in “good standing” will be given preferred consideration. Coaching opportunities may be limited by the number of available teams per season. Please contact the Youth Sports Office at (661) 250-3756, or email us at youthsports@santaclarita.gov for inquiries or additional information.
Coaches Manual
The Youth Sports Coaches Manual was designed to provide coaches with a key tool to help guide them through coaching youth sports. The manual contains pertinent information regarding program guidelines, league rules, and practices drills that coaches can refer to and utilize over the course of the season.

National Alliance for Youth Sports
Together, Youth Sports and NAYS work to preserve a positive atmosphere in sports for youth of the Santa Clarita Valley. Each season, NAYS provides workshops for Youth Sports Coaches, teaching coaches how to remain positive and keep a “fun is #1” priority during the season.
On-site trainings are hosted by the Santa Clarita Youth Sports department and allows for valuable interaction and discussion amongst coaches. Santa Clarita Youth Sports has chosen to offer the NAYS Coach Training to its coaches.
The NAYS Coach online training features the same training content as the on-site trainings yet gives coaches the convenient ability to complete the training from their home or office computer at their own pace. Click the link to view the NAYS Coach online training site. www.nays.org/nyscaonline/
