City Manager Ken Striplin
Election Day is almost here, and if you haven’t voted, there’s still time to make your voice heard. The November 3 General Election is right around the corner, and Los Angeles County makes it easy to cast your ballot in a way that works best for you.
Every registered voter in Los Angeles County should have received a vote-by-mail ballot, which can be completed from the comfort of home and returned by mail with no postage necessary. Your mailed ballot must be postmarked by Election Day, November 3. You can also drop off your completed ballot at an official ballot drop box or any participating Vote Center. Prefer to vote in person? Vote Centers throughout the County are already open and on November 3, Vote Centers will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
With several convenient options available, I encourage you to make a plan, find the voting method that works best for your schedule and cast your ballot.
This election is particularly significant for Santa Clarita as we continue our transition to district-based City Council elections. November 3 marks our City’s second by-district election, with voters in Districts 2, 4 and 5 selecting Councilmembers to represent their neighborhoods for the next four years.
Under this system, Santa Clarita is divided into five districts, and residents vote for the Councilmember who represents the district in which they live. District 2 includes portions of western Santa Clarita and Saugus, District 4 encompasses areas along Bouquet Canyon Road and north of Copper Hill Drive and District 5 includes eastern portions of our City, including Sand Canyon. Districts 1 and 3 will next be up for election in November 2028.
If you are unsure which district you live in, the City offers an interactive map and address lookup tool at SantaClarita.gov/DistrictElections.
While national and statewide races often receive the most attention, local elections have a direct impact on our daily lives. The decisions made by our City Council help shape everything from public safety and road maintenance to parks, recreation, libraries and the infrastructure that supports our growing community.
Whether you are voting for the first time or have participated in elections for decades, taking the time to learn about the candidates and issues on your ballot is an important part of being an engaged resident.
If you have already voted, thank you for participating in the democratic process. If your ballot is still sitting on the kitchen counter, consider this your friendly reminder to fill it out and return it!
