Free, Family-Friendly Event at West Creek Park Features Adaptive Sports,
Performances, Therapy Animals and More
The City of Santa Clarita invites residents of all ages and abilities to FestAbility on Sunday, May 3, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at West Creek Park (24247 Village Circle Drive). Now in its fifth year, FestAbility brings together Santa Clarita’s community with special needs and their families for an afternoon centered on inclusion, creativity, recreation and connection. The first 350 attendants will receive a free FestAbility water bottle.
Free to attend and open to all, FestAbility will feature a wide variety of interactive experiences, accessible activities and live entertainment designed to engage participants of all abilities. Guests can enjoy hands-on arts and crafts, a community drum circle, face painting, food trucks, a bubble artist and character appearances, including Star Wars favorites and roaming stilt walkers.
Returning favorites include adapted sports activities such as basketball, soccer, dance, cheer and street hockey, alongside an adaptive rock wall and opportunities to explore the park’s inclusive play structure, complete with inclusion aides available to provide live instruction and support. Animal encounters and therapeutic interactions will once again be a highlight, with Nigerian Dwarf goats and mini donkeys from SRD Straightening Reins Foundation, as well as therapy dogs and service puppies in training from Giving Paws and Guide Dogs of America/Tender Loving Canines.
FestAbility will also feature performances and demonstrations throughout the afternoon from local organizations, including Dance Studio 84, Bright Star Martial Arts, Include Everyone Project SCV, Major Impact Theater and Pro Wrestling Odyssey, which will bring an exciting live wrestling ring experience to the event.
Additional attractions include a Touch-a-Truck area featuring emergency and service vehicles, the Santa Clarita Public Library’s Mobile Library Express and, of course, West Creek Park’s inclusive playground, featuring ramps, a roller slide designed to reduce static electricity for individuals with cochlear implants and specialized equipment like the We-Go-Swing and We-Go-Round, will be open for all to enjoy. Inclusion aides will also be available throughout the park to provide live instruction and assistance, ensuring that every child can participate safely and comfortably.
To further create an inclusive environment, FestAbility will offer a sensory-friendly Chill Zone for individuals who may need a quiet place to relax away from noise and crowds. This year’s event will also feature dozens of organizations offering superhero-themed activities, sensory play, adaptive recreation and valuable community resources. From hero-training zones and themed games to emergency safety ID kits, crafts and interactive booths, FestAbility continues to showcase the many organizations working to support individuals with special needs and their families.
