City of Santa Clarita Press Release

Celebrate the Fourth Annual Día de los Muertos Event!

Honor Loved Ones with Cultural Traditions, Live Performances and Family-Friendly Activities

The City of Santa Clarita invites residents to celebrate the fourth Annual Día de los Muertos event at the Canyon Country Community Center, located at 18410 Sierra Highway, on Saturday, October 24, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. This family-friendly celebration will bring the community together to honor loved ones, celebrate Mexican traditions and enjoy an afternoon of cultural performances and activities.

The festivities will feature live mariachi music and traditional folklórico dancing. Families can also enjoy Día de los Muertos crafts, face painting, games, small prize giveaways and trick-or-treating throughout the event. Children can join the fun with the popular Youth Sports Zombie Run in the gym, while toddlers and younger children explore the Mini Monster Maze.

A special highlight of the celebration will be the Cempasúchil archway, where attendees can leave heartfelt messages in memory of loved ones. Marigolds, known as cempasúchil, are an important symbol of Día de los Muertos and are traditionally used to honor and remember those who have passed away.
