The following is the recap from the City Council meeting on Tuesday, February 23, 2021:
Highlights of action taken include:
- Opposed Senate Bill 6, unless amended, and opposed Senate Bill 9.
- Supported the Community Power Resiliency Grant program state budget request, in an effort to mitigate Public Power Safety Shutoff events.
- Awarded a construction contract to Toro Enterprises, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $3,041,213 to resurface Railroad Avenue, between Magic Mountain Parkway and 15th Street.
- Appointed Council Member Gibbs as a City representative to the Santa Clara River Watershed Area Steering Committee.
- Directed staff to implement a rental assistance program using $6.3 million in federal funds and separately, authorize the State to administer a local rental assistance program using $6.8 million in State funds.
- Awarded a five-year contract to American Sports Entertainment Company and the Los Angeles Kings in an amount not to exceed $9,360,053 for operations of the City of Santa Clarita Ice and Entertainment Center.
