The following is the recap from the City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 24, 2017:

Highlights of action taken include:

  • Approved a three-year Lease Agreement for an arts venue, the property is located at 24266 Main Street. 
  • Approved the 2017 Community Services and Arts Grants Committee’s program recommendations for 39 local organizations.
  • Adopted a resolution to accept the California Humanities All Quick Grant for the Santa Clarita Public Library’s “One Story One City” program.
  • Approved the plans and specifications for the McBean Parkway Pedestrian Bridge Replacement project.
  • Adopted a resolution appointing William A. Miranda to the Santa Clarita Board of Library Trustees.  Mr. Miranda took his oath of office and was sworn in as a Councilmember. 
  • Approved the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for 2015-16. 
  • Updated the City Council Committee Appointments list for 2017.
  • Adopted a resolution to initiate proceedings to form the Drainage Benefit Assessment Area in Vista Canyon, the public hearing is set for March 14, 2017.
  • Adopted an urgency ordinance regarding a moratorium on activities authorized under Proposition 64 pertaining to non-medical marijuana.
  • Held a public hearing and passed an urgency ordinance extending the moratorium on the conversion/change of any senior mobile home park to a mobile home park allowing residents of all ages, for an additional period of 12 months.

FUTURE MEETINGS

A Budget Study Session will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in the Century Room at City Hall.

Regular City Council meetings take place on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month. 

The next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.
