The following is the recap from the City Council meeting on Tuesday, February 26, 2019:

Highlights of action taken include:

  • Proclaimed the month of February as Black History Month, received five American Public Works Association awards for Public Works projects and received a presentation on the Santa Clarita Public Library One Story One City Program.
  • Supported S. 47, S. 129, House Resolution 530, House Resolution 1015, Assembly Bill 213 and opposed Senate Bill 50.
  • Awarded a three-year maintenance contract to Tanko Streetlighting, Inc., for an annual amount of $250,000, to provide maintenance services on approximately 6,300 streetlight poles transferred from Southern California Edison to the City.
  • Approved the purchase of a John Deere 210L wheel loader in an amount not to exceed $83,228. The wheel loader will be used regularly to move large quantities of material, clear road debris, and assist with road pavement repairs. 
  • Adopted a Tax Equity and Financial Responsibility Act (TEFRA) resolution that approved the issuance of tax-exempt obligations by the California Public Finance Authority to finance, refinance or reimburse costs of acquisition by Trinity Classical Academy.
