The following is the recap from the City Council meeting on Tuesday, August 27, 2019:
Highlights of action taken include:
- Recognized by AARP as a part of the AARP Network for Age-Friendly Cities and Communities.
- Adopted a resolution establishing no stopping zones along the north and south sides of Summit Place between Rockwell Canyon Road and West Del Monte Drive/West Arroyo Park Drive.
- Awarded a three-year contract for security services for City parks, facilities, and events to Select Patrol Agency, Inc., for a total contract amount not to exceed $2,165,420.
- Conducted a second reading and adopted an ordinance to create the Jobs Creation Overlay Zone (JCOZ), with the primary focus of increasing high-quality employment opportunities and improving the City’s jobs/housing balance.
- Approved and authorized a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Amendment No. 1 to provide additional funding by the County of Los Angeles for the construction of the new Sheriff’s station on Golden Valley Road.
- Awarded a contract to Lanair Group, LLC, for a total amount not to exceed $107,664 for the purchase of Ciena fiber electronics hardware necessary to utilize the dark fiber connection between the City’s primary data center and downtown Los Angeles.
