The following is the recap from the City Council meeting on Tuesday, December 10, 2019:
Highlights include:
- Adopted the Santa Clarita 2020 Legislative Platform and supported S. 2012.
- Approved a residential continuation rights solid waste agreement between the City of Santa Clarita and Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc., for the annexed areas of Plum Canyon, Skyline Ranch, and North Sand Canyon and for any future annexed areas of Los Angeles County. Adopted a resolution approving a rate adjustment to the Commercial Solid Waste Franchise Agreement, as a result of changes in the global recycling commodities market.
- Awarded a contract to STL Landscape, Inc. for Newhall Ranch Road Parkway and Slope Planting Project to install plant material and irrigation within the parkway areas, support runoff infiltration, and stabilize the slopes along the nearby San Francisquito Trail in an amount not to exceed $225,600.
- Awarded contracts for construction and support services for Phase II of the Canyon Country Community Center project.
- Adopted a resolution amending the budgets for Fiscal Year 2018-2019 and Fiscal Year 2019-2020.
- Directed staff to define the qualifications of an expert in the first tier of the revised ratings process for the Arts Grants Program and to report back at the next meeting.
During the special meeting, Cameron Smyth was appointed Mayor and Bill Miranda was appointed Mayor Pro Tem.
