The following is the recap from the City Council meeting on Tuesday, September 22, 2020:
Highlights include:
- Proclaimed September 22, 2020, as National Voter Registration Day and encouraged all citizens to ensure they are registered to vote.
- Approved the updated Public Art Planning and Selection Process to include improvements that have been incorporated in the last four years.
- Approved a three-year lease agreement with MAGA L.P. for the rental of the property known as The MAIN, in an amount not to exceed $76,800 annually.
- Conducted a public hearing and adopted an urgency ordinance extending a moratorium on the establishment of new tobacco retailers who sell flavored tobacco products for an additional 12 months or until SB 793 takes effect, whichever is sooner.
- Discussed the formation of a local Public Health Department and authorized the appropriation of $25,000 to hire a consultant to conduct an analysis on the feasibility of creating and maintaining a local Public Health Department.
- Approved a Sponsorship Agreement with Trek Bicycle Corporation for naming rights and financial contributions for the newly-opened City of Santa Clarita Bike Park.
