The following is the recap from the City Council meeting on Tuesday, February 14, 2023:
Highlights of action taken include:
- Proclaimed February 2023 as Black History Month.
- Recognized former Commissioner Dan Masnada for his years of service on the Planning Commission.
- Approved a $2,000,000 contribution towards Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital’s Building for your Health capital campaign, to complete the build out of a new surgical center.
- Approved a Donation Agreement with YMCA for the transfer of ownership of the building located at 26147 McBean Parkway, at no cost to the City.
- Directed staff to send a letter to the Los Angeles County (County) Board of Supervisors outling concerns with the proposed 2023 County Weed Abatement and Brush Clearance Program.
- Adopted an ordinance amending Title 2 of the Santa Clarita Municipal Code pertaining to the Library Code of Conduct.
- Awarded a construction contract to Toro Enterprises, Inc., for the 2022-23 Concrete Rehabilitation Program, Project M0148 and the 2022-23 ADA Access Ramps, Project D0003, for a total contract amount not to exceed $653,160.
- Adjourned the meeting in-memoriam of Jonathan Buchan, Michele Jenkins, and Myron Sproul.
