The following is the recap from the City Council meeting on Tuesday, June 13, 2023:

Highlights of action taken include:

  • Recognized the Saugus High School Marching Band for performing at the Memorial Day Parade in Washington D.C.
  • Proclaimed the month of June 2023 as Pride Month, June 19, 2023 as Juneteenth, and June 24, 2023 as Graffiti Removal Day.
  • Conducted a public hearing on the Annual Operating Budget and Capital Improvement Program for Fiscal Year 2023-24, and scheduled budget adoption for the June 27, 2023, City Council Meeting.
  • Conducted a public hearing and adopted the annual adjustment to fees and charges for City services, increasing in accordance to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the urban consumers of the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim areas.
  • Conducted a public hearing on the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Fee for Fiscal Year 2023-24.
  • Reviewed the feasibility analysis of assuming ownership and operations of William S. Hart Regional Park from the County of Los Angeles and directed staff to move forward in pursuing the transfer of ownership.
  • Approved a one-year contract with the County of Los Angeles Homeless Initiative to receive Measure H funding in the amount of $266,743 to assist with the construction of Family Promise of Santa Clarita Valley’s interim housing facility and for a Homeless Services Coordinator.
  • Awarded a contract to Transportation Management & Design, Inc., to update the City of Santa Clarita Transit’s Transportation Development Plan, for a total contract amount not to exceed $299,856.
