The following is the recap from the City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 11, 2023:
Highlights of action taken include:
- Supported the following pieces of federal and state legislation: Assembly Bill 474, Assembly Bill 701, Assembly Concurrent Resolution 92, House Resolution 2887, House Resolution 3681, S. 1466, and S. 1776.
- Opposed the following pieces of state legislation: Assembly Bill 1308 and Senate Bill 450.
- Appointed Councilwoman Marsha McLean as the City’s voting delegate and appointed Mayor Jason Gibbs and Mayor Pro Tem Cameron Smyth as the alternate voting delegate for the 2023 League of California Cities Annual Conference.
- Established the City of Santa Clarita Animal Care Grant Program and Adoption Promotion and appointed Mayor Jason Gibbs and Councilmember Laurene Weste to serve on the Animal Care Grants Ad Hoc Committee.
- Awarded a contract to Great Western Installations, Inc., to design and build a new play area at Valencia Glen Park for a total contract amount not to exceed $1,200,000.
