The following is a recap of a Special City Council meeting on December 12, 2023:
Highlights of action taken include:
- The City Council nominated and swore in Councilmember Cameron Smyth as Mayor and Councilmember Bill Miranda as Mayor Pro Tem for the upcoming year.
- Conducted a public hearing and adopted a resolution approving Master Case 23-182, regarding revisions to the timing of commercial improvements for the Sand Canyon Village Mixed Use Project.
- Adopted a resolution amending the budgets for Fiscal Year 2022-23 and Fiscal Year 2023-24.
- Supported efforts to designate the Northern Angeles National Forest as a national monument.
- Adopted the Santa Clarita 2024 Executive and Legislative Platform, which provides guidance to staff on legislative and regulatory issues of interest to the City Council.
- Adjourned the meeting in-memoriam of Robert Ellis Keysor and Paul Kessler.
