The following is a recap of the City Council meeting on January 23, 2024:
Highlights of action taken include:
- Recognized the Valencia High School Pride of the Vikings Marching Band and Color Guard for winning silver medals in the 2023 Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association.
- Discussed and approved the City Council Committee Appointments for 2024.
- Reviewed the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors’ new Gun and Ammunition Dealers Ordinance and elected not to adopt the ordinance, resulting in local businesses complying with existing State and Federal requirements. Staff was directed to issue letters to local firearms and ammunition dealers informing them of this decision.
- Approved the 2024 Community Services and Arts Grants Committee’s program funding recommendations for a total amount not to exceed $199,045.
