The holiday season is a special time for all of us to focus on what truly matters — family, community and the small acts of kindness that connect us. In Santa Clarita, these values shine all year, but they feel especially strong during the holidays. You can see it in the way our residents look out for one another, our volunteers step up when help is needed and our traditions bring joy to families across the City. This message is built around three themes that reflect the best of who we are: the spirit of giving, the bonds that bring us together and the promise of a bright future.
If there is one thing that captures the essence of Christmas, it is giving. In Santa Clarita, this spirit can be seen in the volunteers who generously pour their time and heart into the community. These individuals, of all ages and backgrounds, form the backbone of many of the programs, services and events that make our City an extraordinary place to live, work and play. This year, we watched thousands of volunteers step forward to help deliver meaningful experiences across the City. They supported youth sports, beautified trails, parks and also made events like the Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, Celebrate and the River Rally possible. They rolled up their sleeves and pitched in by painting walls and picking up trash at Graffiti Removal Day, and helping many local non-profits with projects and needed service as part of Make a Difference Day. During this season of giving, it feels especially important to recognize that their service is one of the greatest gifts our City receives. To every volunteer who shared their time and compassion this year, thank you!
Another hallmark of the season is togetherness, and this year, Santa Clarita came together in unforgettable ways. In the spring, our hometown favorite Cowboy Festival returned to William S. Hart Park. The site was transformed into a celebration of our rich, Western heritage. Families and visitors enjoyed live music, unique activities and embraced what it was like to live in the Old West. This summer, we celebrated 35 years of Concerts in the Park presented by Logix Federal Credit Union, a milestone that reflects just how important this event series has become to generations of residents. Week after week, thousands gathered at Central Park to enjoy live music under the warm summer sky. As the year began to draw to a close, Light Up Main Street presented by DrinkPAK, brought us together once again to welcome the holiday season. Old Town Newhall lit up with tens-of-thousands of sparkling lights, creating a magical atmosphere where families, friends and neighbors braved the rain to celebrate side by side.
As we wrap up 2025, it is exciting to look ahead to the projects that will shape Santa Clarita’s future. Next year, residents will be able to enjoy The Rink Sports Pavilion, a 25,700-square foot indoor facility that will become an anchor for recreation at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex. Offering roller skating and sports courts, this new amenity is sure to be a popular space. Significant upgrades, such as a new basketball court, exercise staircase, baseball field and more, are also underway at David March Park. Looking ahead, construction will begin soon on Via Princessa Park, a brand-new park that will bring fresh amenities and outdoor recreation opportunities. Together, these projects represent a future built on spaces where residents can play, get active and thrive.
On this Christmas Day, I hope you find time to rest, connect with loved ones and reflect on the blessings of this past year. As we prepare to welcome a new year, it is my hope that each of us will carry the kindness and generosity of this season forward. From my family to yours, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and warm wishes for a joyful and peaceful New Year.
