September 11, 2026 will mark 25 years since one of the darkest days in our nation’s history.
“On that fateful day, our nation and our lives changed forever,” said Mayor Laurene Weste. “In the face of unimaginable danger, our firefighters, law enforcement officers, paramedics and first responders ran toward danger to save others. Their courage, sacrifice and selfless service represent the very best of America, and we owe them our deepest gratitude. Twenty-five years later, it is our responsibility to preserve this history and teach future generations about the lives we lost, the heroes who answered the call and the patriotism and unity that brought our nation together. We must continue to tell their stories, honor their sacrifice and ensure that America never forgets.”
To mark this solemn anniversary, the City of Santa Clarita will illuminate the River of Lights at Central Park (27150 Bouquet Canyon Road) in a patriotic tribute. At the top of the hill, two powerful beams of light will stretch into the night sky, symbolizing the World Trade Center towers and honoring the nearly 3,000 lives lost that day, the first responders who later died from illnesses related to their service at Ground Zero and the brave members of our Armed Forces who answered the call to defend our nation in the War on Terror. A special thank you to Illumination Dynamics for working together with the City to make this tribute possible.
The tribute will begin at approximately 7:15 p.m., depending on sunset, and remain illuminated until 10:00 p.m.
