The City of Santa Clarita invites poets of all ages and experience to submit original work for the 2027 Sidewalk Poetry Project, a public art initiative that transforms Santa Clarita sidewalks into spaces for reflection, creativity and community connection.
Through this annual program, selected poems will be permanently stamped into newly poured concrete throughout the City, creating unexpected moments of art and inspiration in everyday places. The Sidewalk Poetry Project is part of Santa Clarita’s ongoing commitment to integrating the arts into public spaces and celebrating local voices.
Community members are encouraged to submit short, original poems that reflect this year’s theme “Changing Seasons.” The theme extends beyond the transition from winter to spring, summer and fall. A changing season can represent a new chapter in life, a moment in history, personal growth or the cycles and changes that shape our community. Poets are encouraged to explore what it means to move from one season to the next and how those changes connect us to Santa Clarita. Entries will be reviewed by a selection panel, and winning poets will be recognized at the 2027 Sidewalk Poetry Dedication Event, where their work will be celebrated alongside fellow community members.
Poets may submit their work now through November 20. Selected poets will receive a $150 stipend and the opportunity to meet with a poetry professor to discuss their work! Full guidelines, eligibility requirements, and submission details are available at SantaClaritaArts.com.
Join Santa Clarita Arts in celebrating the power of words and the voices that shape our community, one poem at a time.
