As a City of Santa Clarita Teen Court Juror, it is very important to remember you have an important role in the program process and will have a significant impact on the life of one of your peers. As such, proper dress and decorum is required. See below for dress code and code of conduct for all jurors.
DRESS CODE: Teen Court sessions are held at City Hall. If you come to City Hall afterschool, it is your responsibility to bring a change of clothes if you plan on being a Teen Court Juror. If you are not in compliance with the dress code you will be asked to leave.
Dress Code for All Teen Jurors:
- Collared shirt/blouse – short sleeve or long sleeve neatly tucked in if needed. No low-cut or strapless blouses allowed. T-shirts are not permitted.
- Slacks (dress pants) or dark blue/black jeans (no faded, sagging or ripped jeans.)
- Tennis shoes or dress shoes.
- No sunglasses, hats or beanies.
- Skirts (skirt must be knee length or longer). If your dress or skirt does not come down to the knee, then wear slacks or jeans.
- Tennis shoes (white or black) or dress shoes.
Your demeanor as a Teen Court Juror should be mature and professional. Teen Juror code of conduct includes:
- Please sit up straight and listen to everyone who is speaking.
- Turn off your phone.
- No unnecessary talking.
- No laughing while questioning the participant(s) or listening to their response. Avoid staring or making facial expressions (eye-rolling, acting surprised, etc.)
- No chewing gum or eating while inside the courtroom.
- Treat other jurors, the judge, participant and court staff with respect at all times.
- Speak clearly and loudly enough to be heard by all in court.
- Follow all instructions of the judge, bailiff and staff.
