Graffiti vandalism is taken very seriously by the City and by local law enforcement. Since the inception of the e-Graffiti database in 2007, over 1000 arrests have been made for graffiti vandalism were made in Santa Clarita.
A conviction can include all of the following:
Juveniles
- A Felony Record
- Court Fees
- Attorney Fees
- Full Restitution Costs – Full restitution is to be paid to the victim, which in many cases is the City of Santa Clarita, and the amount can range from $3,000 to $50,000
- Time at a Juvenile Camp – This time can be anywhere from 6 months to a year in camp
- Time in Juvenile Hall
- Formal Probation – Can last up to 3 years and can include unannounced searches by law enforcement and stipulations limiting travel outside of Los Angeles County
- Community Service – Community Service hours can range from 50 to 100 hours
Adults (18 and Over)
- Felony Record
- Court Fees
- Full Restitution Costs – Full restitution is to be paid to the victim, which in many cases is the City of Santa Clarita, and the amount can range from $3,000 to $50,000
- Jail Time in County or State Prison – Each Felony case within the State of California can carry a penalty of up to 4 years in a State Prison
- Formal Probation – Can last up to 3 years and can include unannounced searches by law enforcement and stipulations limiting travel outside of Los Angeles County
- Community Service – Community Service hours can range from 50 to 100 hours
Parents of Juveniles
- Court Fees
- Attorney Fees
- Restitution Costs – If the juvenile cannot afford to pay the restitution costs the cost will be paid by the parents
- Scheduling inconvenience – Parent’s schedule will now have to include court dates and community service dates
