What Happens After I Apply:

  • Enrollment: 40 students
  • Eligibility: High school students (9th – 12th grade) who live in or attend school in Santa Clarita.
  • Schedule: September to May, selected weekdays between 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Students attend two sessions per month, which includes presentations, simulations, tours, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Attendance: Required: Required, max 2 excused absences.
  • Application: If more than 40 students apply, participants will be selected through a random lottery. To be entered into the lottery, students must complete the Youth in Government application, and attend the required Orientation with a parent or guardian. Please note: The interest form is not the official application.
  • Orientation: Students and a parent/guardian must attend an orientation to learn about the program and review expectations.
