Picnic Area/Community Room Reservations FAQ

Can I book on a holiday?

No, reservations cannot be secured for any City observed holiday.

Why do I need insurance?

Insurance is required for any high-risk events or activities including:

  • When bounce houses are present
  • When party attendance is over 100 people
  • When non-profit organizations or businesses reserve the space
  • Any other event or activity that is considered high risk per the City’s Risk Department

Can I grill at the picnic site?

Yes, only at the locations that contain a barbeque pit. Personal grills are NOT permitted.

How do I book a picnic pavilion?

All reservations are done online. Go to the City of Santa Clarita Catalog and you can make a reservation under Picnic Reservation. 

Do I need a picnic reservation? 

No, if the picnic area is not reserved, it will now be on a first come first serve basis. In order to have any vendors present, a picnic reservation will be required. 

What is the cancellation policy?

Renters will need to send a written notice of their cancelation to our reservation email 14 days in advance to receive a full refund. Failure to submit notice before 14 days will result in forfeiture of all paid fees.

Are there any prohibited items?

Prohibited items include but not limited to:

  • Alcoholic bevarages
  • Firearms and weapons
  • Open flame decorations
  • Granular substances like rice, confetti, or birdseed
  • Fog/smoke machines
  • Fire and portable barbeques
  • Onsite cooking such as taco carts
  • Unpermitted bounce houses
  • Bounce houses with water features
  • Any animals other than dogs or cats on a leash
  • Color powder or color products
  • Any item or activity as stated in the City of Santa Clarita municipal code.

How much is a picnic reservation?

For Santa Clarita residents, the cost of a picnic reservation is $108 for 4 hours. Other fees may apply, please see our fee chart for additional rates that may apply.

When do I pay for the reservation?

Full payment is required at the time of checkout.

Can I have music at the picnic site?

Yes, but noise level must be kept low and DJs and live bands will require insurance.

How long can my picnic reservation be? 

Our picnic reservations are made in 4-hour time slots. You are more than welcome to stay past the 4 hours at no additional charge.

How far can I book my picnic in advance?

Picnic reservations must be made with a minimum 14 days in advance and up to 6 months in advance.

Is power or electricity provided at the picnic sites?

No, power and electricity are NOT available.

Why aren’t the non-profit fees showing up when I checkout?

Renters must pay the full balance due at time of checkout. Non-profit fees will be applied when the renter submits their Non-profit status letter to the Reservations Office. Staff will request this via email.

Can I have a bounce house, laser tag, or an obstacle course at the picnic site?

Yes, but details for each vendor must be provided during the checkout process and insurance will be required.
