The following is the recap from the City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 23, 2023:

Highlights of action taken include:

  • Recognized Cesar Romo, City Traffic Signal System Administrator, for receiving the American Public Works Association Public Works Employee of the Year Award.
  • Proclaimed the month of May 2023 as Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Jewish American Heritage Month, and Mental Health Awareness Month.
  • Approved the Draft Substantial Amendment to the 2020-21 Annual Action Plan and funding recommendations contained therein. 
  • Adopted a resolution reappointing Councilwoman Marsha McLean to the Santa Clarita Board of Library Trustees for a three-year term, expiring June 30, 2026.
  • Accepted a grant from the State of California Energy Commission and awarded a one-year contract to Camino Technologies in the amount of $95,000 to design and build an online, automated solar permitting platform to provide expedited solar permitting services.
  • Approved plans and specifications for the 2022-23 Overlay A, Overlay B, and Slurry Seal projects and awarded several construction and professional services contracts in support of the three projects.
  • Approved an agreement in form with the Santa Clarita Water Agency for the sale of recycled water and awarded a five-year contract to PERC Water Corporation to provide operations and maintenance of the Vista Canyon Recycled Water Factory, for a total contract amount not to exceed $3,479,130.
