The following is the recap from the City Council meeting on Tuesday, June 27, 2023:
Highlights of action taken include:
- Recognized the winners of the 2023 Santa Clarita Sister Cities Young Artist and Authors Showcase.
- Conducted public hearings and adopted resolutions approving the Engineer’s Reports for the Fiscal Year 2023-24 annual levy of assessments for Special Districts and the Open Space Preservation District.
- Conducted a public hearing and adopted a resolution approving an amendment to the 2021-29 Housing Element Update.
- Adopted the Fiscal Year 2023-24 Annual Operating Budget and Capital Improvement Program.
- Directed staff to send a letter to Sheriff Robert Luna opposing the Los Angeles County Sheriff Civilian Oversight Commission recommendation to require the regular rotation of patrol deputies.
- Awarded a construction contact to Crosstown Electrical & Data, Inc. for the Citywide Fiber Optic Cable Capacity Upgrade project, in an amount not to exceed $3,453,904.
- Adjourned the meeting in-memoriam of Olga Kaczmar, Leslie “Les” Buffham, and Larry Lee Bird.
