The following is the recap from the City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 12, 2022:

Highlights of action taken include:

  • Directed staff to finalize an agreement with Greystar (GS Sand Canyon For Rent LLC) for the dedication of a future public street after Louis E. Brathwaite within the Sand Canyon Plaza Mixed Use development. 
  • Conducted a public hearing and adopted a resolution to allow for the expansion of Eternal Valley Memorial Park. 
  • Awarded a two-year landscape maintenance contract to Stay Green, Inc., to provide landscape maintenance services to Veterans Historical Plaza and the Newhall Community Center for a total amount not to exceed $53,280.
  • Awarded two-year landscape maintenance contracts to American Heritage Landscape, Inc and Stay Green, Inc to provide landscape maintenance services to Landscape Maintenance District Zone 18 (Valencia Town Center) and Landscape Maintenance District Zone 32 (Vista Canyon Ranch), in amounts not to exceed $563,966 and $434,000, respectively.
  • Awarded a construction contract to Cybertech Construction Company, Inc. for Phase II of the City Hall Restrooms Remodel, in an amount not to exceed $432,543.
  • Renewed a five-year internet connection contract with Crown Castle Fiber LLC, in the amount of $300,000, for the City’s lease of two dark fiber strands, connecting the City of Santa Clarita to Downtown Los Angeles. 
  • Awarded a design contract to Dokken Engineering in an amount not to exceed $384,753 to increase and improve traffic flow at the Valencia Boulevard/McBean Parkway and Valencia Boulevard/Mall Entrance intersections. 
  • Adjourned the meeting in-memoriam of Jami Kennedy, the Santa Clarita Valley’s 1989 Woman of the Year.
