The following is a recap of the City Council meeting on July 9, 2024:

Highlights of action taken include:

  • Received a presentation on the 2024 Public Opinion Poll Results.
  • Recognized Dr. Rachael Sachar and Avetis “AVO” Aladzhadzhyan for their heroic actions during a traffic collision.
  • Recognized Dan Watson for his years of service capturing pivotal City moments as a photographer for The Signal.
  • Adopted a resolution approving the transfer of ownership and operations of William S. Hart Regional Park from the County of Los Angeles, with an expected transition date of July 1, 2025.
  • Received a presentation on the Central Park River of Lights, Project P4033, approved the plans and specifications for the project, and awarded a construction contract to H&S Electric, Inc., for a total contract amount not to exceed $1,606,780. 
  • Approved the 2024 Animal Care Grant Program funding recommendations by the Grants Committee, in a total amount not to exceed $10,000 per grantee.
  • Adjourned the meeting in-memoriam of Andrew Pontious.
