The following is a recap of the City Council regular meeting on April 22, 2025:

Highlights of action taken include:

  • Proclaimed April 20 – 26, 2025, as National Volunteer Week.
  • Recognized the President’s Volunteer Service Award recipient, Community Court Volunteers, and Girl Scout Troop 1912 for the Gold President’s Volunteer Service Award.
  • Opened the Public Hearing for Newhall Mixed Use (Master Case 24-134) and moved to keep the Public Hearing open to the next City Council regular meeting on May 13, 2025.
  • Moved the Public Hearing Item #2: 2025 Municipal Code Updates – First Reading and New Business Item #3: First Responder Tribute Project to the next City Council regular meeting on May 13, 2025.
  • Approved the purchase of a new Caterpillar Excavator Model 306 to support the maintenance of the City’s stormwater basins and outfalls in an amount not to exceed $153,762.
  • Awarded construction and professional services contracts for the 2024-25 Overlay and Slurry Seal Program—Overlay A and Overlay B, Project M0157 to Sully-Miller Contracting Company; Onyx Paving Company Inc.; Twining, Inc.; and Hunsaker and Associates, Los Angeles, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $2,089,325 and $6,699,900, $1,520,365 and $821,110, respectively.
  • Approved an agreement with the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District to accept Measure A grant funds for a total amount of $1,437,195 and approved the purchase of 457+/- acres of real property in Vasquez Canyon Ranch for the purpose of open space preservation at a total cost of $2,589,314. 
  • Adjourned the meeting in-memoriam for Diana Cusumano, former SCV Woman of the Year.
