Current Election

What happens to my ballot?

All the ballots from the polling places are taken to a designated area and transported to the Los Angeles County Registrar Recorder/County Clerk’s Office (called the Central Counting Place), where they are counted by ballot counting machines. Ballot counting continues until all ballots received by mail and from the polling places are tallied.

Election Results

The unofficial results are available on the lavote.gov website. In addition, the results, along with provisional ballots, constitute the “official” canvass and are presented to the City Council for approval at a subsequent Council meeting where the newly-elected City Council members are sworn in.
