Commission Information

Arts Commission

Duties: The Arts Commission shall have the power and duty, except as otherwise provided by law, to: advise the City Council in all matters pertaining to arts programming and public art, and to cooperate with other governmental agencies and civic groups in the advancement of sound arts development and arts planning and programming, and have and exercise all of the powers, duties, rights, privileges and authorities of an Arts Commission, as provided for by the State of California.

Qualifications: Each of the five (5) Commissioners shall be a resident of the City and shall be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the City Council.

Compensation: Arts Commissioners are paid for their attendance at Regular and Special Commission Meetings.  The rate for FY 2023-24 is $189.15 per meeting.

Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission

Duties: The Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission shall have the power and duty, except as otherwise provide by law, to: advise the City Council in all matters pertaining to parks and public recreation, and to cooperate with other governmental agencies and civic groups in the advancement of sound park and recreation planning and programming, and have and exercise all of the powers, duties, rights, privileges and authorities of a City Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission, as provided for by the State of California.

Qualifications: Each of the five (5) Commissioners shall be a resident of the City and shall be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the City Council.

Compensation: Parks, Recreation, and Community Commissioners are paid for their attendance at Regular and Special Commission Meetings.  The rate for FY 2023-24 is $189.15 per meeting.

Planning Commission

Duties: The Planning Commission shall have the power and duty, except as otherwise provide by law, to: investigate and make recommendations to the City Council regarding review of proposals for major public works projects; review proposals for acquisition of property for street, park or other public purposes; make recommendations to the City Council with respect to a specific plan or regulation or amendment; hold public hearings on proposed zoning; hear and decide applications for conditional uses or other permits; hear and decide applications for exceptions or variances; consider tentative maps of proposed subdivisions; have and exercise all of the powers, duties, rights, privileges and authorities of a City Planning Commission, as provided for by the State of California.

Qualifications: Each of the five (5) Commissioners shall be a resident of the City and shall be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the City Council.

Compensation: Planning Commissioners are paid for their attendance at Regular and Special Commission Meetings.  The rate for FY 2023-24 is $253.12 per meeting.
