The following is a recap of the City Council regular meeting of August 25, 2026:

Highlights of actions taken include:

  • Recognized the participants of the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program, the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Youth Grove and Tom and Alice Renolds for their work in establishing it, Gilchrist Farm’s 10-Year Anniversary, and the groundbreaking of SoCalGas Company’s Honor Rancho Compressor Modernization project.
  • Conducted a public hearing and introduced an ordinance to establish objective design standards for multifamily and mixed-use development.
  • Awarded contracts for Newhall Park Improvements Project design: a design contract to Pacific Coast Land Design, Inc., for park improvements, in a total contract amount not to exceed $2,027,446 and a design contract to Pacific Advanced Civil Engineering, Inc., for the regional stormwater infiltration facility, in a total contract amount not to exceed $471,658.
  • Authorized the transfer of three Compressed Natural Gas buses from San Diego Metropolitan Transit System to the City, in an amount not to exceed $300,000 and authorized staff to enter into contracts to paint the buses and install automatic vehicle locating systems, in the amounts of $129,928 and $56,627, respectively.
  • Awarded a construction contact to E&M Constructors, Inc., for the Bouquet Canyon Park Parking Lot Refurbishment Project, for a total contract not to exceed $333,460.
  • Amended the existing contract with SWCA Environmental Consultants for the preparation of the Belcaro at Sand Canyon Project Environmental Impact Report and increased expenditure authority for a total contract amount not to exceed $423,850.
  • Adjourned in memory of Rose Koscielny.
