The following is a recap of the City Council regular meeting of September 22, 2026:
Highlights of actions taken include:
- Proclaimed September 2026 as Suicide Prevention Month and September 13 through September 19 as the Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week.
- Recognized twelve podium-finishing Santa Clarita figure skaters from the U.S. Figure Skating National Showcase Championships and recognized Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society’s 150th anniversary of the “Wedding of the Rails,” celebrating the rail connection between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
- Approved a Purchase and Sale Agreement with the Saugus Union School District to acquire the former Santa Clarita Elementary School site, in the amount of $13,000,000 and authorized $8,000 for escrow and due diligence fees.
- Awarded a two-year contract to Michael Baker International to update elements of the City’s General Plan to meet state law requirements, for a total contract amount not to exceed $363,000.
- Approved the Global War on Terror plaque to complete the existing Story Station at Veterans Historical Plaza.
- Awarded a contract to ZeroUp Energy, Inc., for the rental of temporary hydrogen refueling equipment and delivery of hydrogen in an amount not to exceed $1,726,000, to fuel the City’s hydrogen fuel cell electric buses while the permanent hydrogen production and fueling station is being constructed.
- Authorized the Amended and Restated Agreement with JV Ice at the Cube, LLC, for the operation and management of The Cube Ice and Entertainment Center, for a five-year term for a management fee not to exceed $1,207,337.
