The following is a recap of the City Council regular meeting on February 25, 2025:

Highlights of action taken include:

  • Proclaimed March 8, 2025, as International Women’s Day.
  • Recognized first responders for their heroic efforts during and after the recent Palisades, Eaton, and Hughes Fires.
  • Conducted a public hearing and received information regarding the results of the 2025-26 Community Needs Assessment Survey conducted as part of the Community Development Block Grant program.
  • Approved a three-year agreement with the Santa Clarita Community College District for an amount not to exceed $80,000 per year for community availability of the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons.
  • Approved a three-year agreement with the Newhall School District for an amount not to exceed $75,000 per year for community availability of the Newhall Family Theatre for the Performing Arts.
  • Approved a five-year renewal of the Industrial Waste Service Agreement between the City of Santa Clarita and the County of Los Angeles, Department of Public Works, for an amount not to exceed $650,000 per year for the enforcement of the City’s Wastewater Ordinance.
