The following is a recap of the City Council regular meeting of June 23, 2026:
Highlights of actions taken include:
- Recognized Sensei Rocky Whatule, a World Karate Commission and International Combat Organization, World and National gold medal champion, for the positive impact he makes as an instructor in Santa Clarita.
- Received a presentation on the 2026 Public Opinion Poll results.
- Conducted a public hearing and adopted a Tax Equity and Financial Responsibility Act resolution for the benefit of the Maple Housing Foundation, approving the issuance of tax-exempt obligations by the California Municipal Finance Authority, in an aggregate principal amount not to exceed $110 million.
- Adopted a policy regarding technology interruptions during City Council Meetings, as required by Senate Bill 707.
- Authorized the execution of an agreement with Los Angeles County for high-quality digital aerial imagery and elevation datasets, in an amount not to exceed $94,042.
- Approved an Infrastructure Reimbursement Agreement with River Walk Owner, LLC, to fund the installation of landscaping and irrigation for traffic medians, for a total amount not to exceed $1,135,787.
- Approved the acquisition of approximately 82 acres of real property northeast of the City, at a total cost of $251,322, and approximately 500 acres northeast of the City, at a total cost of $3,557,625, to expand the open space greenbelt surrounding the Santa Clarita Valley.
- Awarded a three-year contract to Larry Walker and Associates to implement the Upper Santa Clara River Coordinated Integrated Monitoring Plan, monitor water quality, conduct data analysis, and complete reporting consistent with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit compliance, for a total contract amount not to exceed $1,926,237.
- Awarded a construction contract to Golden Sun Enterprise, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $3,081,075 and a professional services contract to Pacific Advanced Civil Engineering, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $100,313 for the Newhall Park Pool Pump Room Replacement project.
