The following is a recap of the City Council regular meeting of September 9, 2025:
Highlights of actions taken include:
- Recognized the LASC-SCV U14 Boys Soccer Team for their National Cup Championship and proclaimed September 2025 as Childhood Cancer Awareness and Hunger Action Month.
- Received an update and analysis on the Shuttle Service Pilot Program that operated in Old Town Newhall in July and August 2025.
- Approved easements on City property to the Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency for the purpose of installing and maintaining water and drainage facilities.
- Awarded a three-year contract to Brightly Software, Inc., for facilities asset management, for a total contract amount not to exceed $302,291.
- Approved the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Los Angeles County Affordable Housing Solutions Agency to enable the City of Santa Clarita to receive and utilize Measure A funds for affordable housing, technical assistance, and homeless prevention.
- Adopted a resolution for the summary vacation of portions of the public right-of-way known as Placerita Canyon Road, acceptance of an easement for public use and trail purposes, and acceptance of a restricted use area located near Sierra Highway.
- Adjourned the meeting in memoriam for Frederick Louis Gruchalla and Sheila Miller.

The following is a recap of the City Council regular meeting of August 26, 2025:
Highlights of actions taken include:
- Recognized the participants of the One Thousand Books Before Kindergarten Program.
- Conducted a Public Hearing and adopted a resolution approving a request to modify the Hartwell Mixed Use Project (Master Case 25-089), previously considered by City Council on May 13, 2025 (Master Case 24-134), by increasing the project to 98 apartment units and 6,300 square feet of commercial floor area.
- Conducted a Public Hearing and did not pass a Tax Equity and Financial Responsibility Act resolution regarding the issuance of tax-exempt obligations by the California Municipal Finance Authority in an aggregate amount not to exceed $65 million.
- Approved Mayor Pro Tem Weste’s nomination for Daniel Faina to fill an unexpired term of office on the City’s Planning Commission.
- Awarded a construction contract to Estate Design and Construction for the Mediation Garden Project, for a total contract amount not to exceed $215,380.
- Awarded a professional services contract to Jacob Green and Associates to update the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan, for a total contract amount not to exceed $84,900.
- Extended the existing contract with Hydrogen Technology & Energy Corporation (HTEC) for Bus Hydrogen Refueling Station Consulting and Project Management services to March 31, 2026, for a revised contract not to exceed $482,410.
- Approved the purchase, through Waxie Sanitary Supply, of ten Big Belly Solar Trash and Recycling Units in the amount not to exceed $115,687.

The following is a recap of the City Council regular meeting of July 8, 2025:
Highlights of actions taken include:
- Recognized Santa Clarita Successful Bar Exam Candidates.
- Reviewed and approved the proposed Summer Shuttle Service Pilot Program in Old Town Newhall with the direction to review operating hours with businesses within Old Town Newhall.
- Conducted a second reading and adopted an ordinance adopting the 2025 Fire Hazard Severity Zone Map of the City of Santa Clarita (City) pursuant to Government Code Section 51179.
- Approved a one-year contract with Los Angeles County to receive Measure A Local Solutions Funds, in the amount of $476,145, to support grants for Family Promise and Bridge to Home and to fund a Homeless Services Intern to implement the 2025 Community Plan to Address Homelessness.
- Approved the 2025 Animal Care Grant Committee’s funding recommendations in a total amount not to exceed $50,000.
- Approved plans and specifications for the 2024-25 Federal Overlay and Slurry Seal Program, Project M0158, and awarded a construction contract to R.C. Becker, Inc., for a total contract amount not to exceed $442,864.
- Awarded a design contract to Pacific Coast Land Design, Inc., for the Newhall Park Improvements Project, Project P2017, for a total contract amount not to exceed $659,508.
- The City Council will not meet the 4th Tuesday in July and the 2nd Tuesday in August.

Highlights of actions taken include:
- Recognized Legacy Christian Academy’s 30th anniversary.
- Conducted a first reading and passed to a second reading an ordinance adopting the 2025 Fire Hazard Severity Zone Map of the City of Santa Clarita (City) pursuant to Government Code Section 51179.
- Approved the draft Memorandum of Understanding between the City and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 721, and adopted a resolution providing for compensation of employees represented by the SEIU.
- Conducted a second reading and adopted the proposed amendments to the MetroWalk Specific Plan (Master Case 24-230).
- Awarded a one-year contract to Advantage Productions for sound, stage, and power services for City events, for a total contract amount not to exceed $54,945.
- Approved plans and specifications for Newhall Gateway Beautification, Project B2018; awarded a construction and a professional services contract to Superb Engineering, Inc., and to Pacific Coast Land Design, Inc., for a total contract amount not to exceed $2,993,238 and $147,076, respectively.
- Awarded a design contract to Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., for the Newhall Avenue Railroad Safety Improvements, Project C2029, for a total contract amount not to exceed $1,046,140.
- Conducted a second reading and adopted an ordinance determining the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Fee for Fiscal Year 2025-26.
- Approved the plans and specifications for the Haskell Canyon Bike Park project, Project P0020; awarded a construction contract to ARC Construction Inc., and extended the professional service contract for construction management support with Avid Trails, for a total contract amount not to exceed $6,893,447 and $630,797, respectively.

- Adopted the Annual Budget and Capital Improvement Program for Fiscal Year 2025-26.
- Accepted $25,000 through the Safe, Clean Water Program’s Public Education and Community Engagement Grant to fund stormwater outreach initiatives.
- Awarded construction and professional service contracts for the 2024-25 Overlay Slurry Seal Program, Project M0157 – Overlay C and Overlay D to Toro Enterprises, Inc., and Slurry Seal project to American Asphalt South, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $3,218,063, $4,540,348, and $1,514,566, respectively.
