The following is a recap of the City Council regular meeting on April 22, 2025:
Highlights of action taken include:
- Proclaimed April 20 – 26, 2025, as National Volunteer Week.
- Recognized the President’s Volunteer Service Award recipient, Community Court Volunteers, and Girl Scout Troop 1912 for the Gold President’s Volunteer Service Award.
- Opened the Public Hearing for Newhall Mixed Use (Master Case 24-134) and moved to keep the Public Hearing open to the next City Council regular meeting on May 13, 2025.
- Moved the Public Hearing Item #2: 2025 Municipal Code Updates – First Reading and New Business Item #3: First Responder Tribute Project to the next City Council regular meeting on May 13, 2025.
- Approved the purchase of a new Caterpillar Excavator Model 306 to support the maintenance of the City’s stormwater basins and outfalls in an amount not to exceed $153,762.
- Awarded construction and professional services contracts for the 2024-25 Overlay and Slurry Seal Program—Overlay A and Overlay B, Project M0157 to Sully-Miller Contracting Company; Onyx Paving Company Inc.; Twining, Inc.; and Hunsaker and Associates, Los Angeles, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $2,089,325 and $6,699,900, $1,520,365 and $821,110, respectively.
- Approved an agreement with the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District to accept Measure A grant funds for a total amount of $1,437,195 and approved the purchase of 457+/- acres of real property in Vasquez Canyon Ranch for the purpose of open space preservation at a total cost of $2,589,314.
- Adjourned the meeting in-memoriam for Diana Cusumano, former SCV Woman of the Year.

Highlights of action taken include:
- Proclaimed April 2025 as Autism Acceptance Month.
- Proclaimed April 25, 2025, as National Arbor Day.
- Recognized the West Ranch Wildcats Varsity and Junior Varsity Hockey Teams on their Division championship wins in the Los Angeles Kings High School Hockey League.
- Approved a five-signature letter to be sent to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors regarding deputy vacancies at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
- Approved revisions to the Reciprocal Easement Agreement with the Tesoro Del Valle Homeowners Association.
- Authorized an increased expenditure authority for the preparation of the Wiley Canyon Development Project Environmental Impact Report (Master Case 20-238) for a total contract amount not to exceed $390,022.
- Adjourned the meeting in-memoriam of Richard “Rick” Huntington and Elaine Ballace.

Highlights of action taken include:
- Proclaimed March 29, 2025, as National Vietnam War Veterans Day.
- Recognized the Daughters of the American Revolution for their ongoing support of the Veteran community.
- Supported Assembly Bill (AB) 271, Senate Bill (SB) 264, and SB 1416; and opposed AB 1022.
- Awarded a three-year contract to Geosyntec Consultants, Inc., for water testing at the Vista Canyon Water Factory, for a total contract amount not to exceed $531,104.
- Approved the purchase of seven Big Belly Solar Trash and Recycling Units from Waxie Sanitary Supply, for a total amount not to exceed $81,065.
- Extended the current design contract and authorized an increased expenditure authority for design services with MNS Engineers, Inc., for a revised total contract amount not to exceed $4,882,236 and Southern California Regional Rail Authority, for a revised total contract amount not to exceed $572,935, for the Dockweiler Drive Extension, Project S3023.
- Awarded a construction contract to MSH Development Group Inc., for a total contract amount not to exceed $652,625, for the 2024/25 Concrete Rehabilitation Program, Project M0156, and 2024-25 ADA Access Ramps, Project D0005.
- Adjourned the meeting in-memoriam of Allen Hohnroth and Jack Lilley.

- Received an Annual Update presentation from the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation.
- Authorized the execution of a contract with Model 1 Bus Sales for the purchase of five Compressed Natural Gas cutaway vehicles, tools, training, and spare parts for an amount not to exceed $1,220,576.
- Awarded a contract to SWCA Environmental Consultants for the preparation of the Belcaro at Sand Canyon project Environmental Impact Report (Master Case 24-093) for an amount not to exceed $369,564.

The following is a recap of the City Council regular meeting on February 25, 2025:
Highlights of action taken include:
- Proclaimed March 8, 2025, as International Women’s Day.
- Recognized first responders for their heroic efforts during and after the recent Palisades, Eaton, and Hughes Fires.
- Conducted a public hearing and received information regarding the results of the 2025-26 Community Needs Assessment Survey conducted as part of the Community Development Block Grant program.
- Approved a three-year agreement with the Santa Clarita Community College District for an amount not to exceed $80,000 per year for community availability of the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons.
- Approved a three-year agreement with the Newhall School District for an amount not to exceed $75,000 per year for community availability of the Newhall Family Theatre for the Performing Arts.
- Approved a five-year renewal of the Industrial Waste Service Agreement between the City of Santa Clarita and the County of Los Angeles, Department of Public Works, for an amount not to exceed $650,000 per year for the enforcement of the City’s Wastewater Ordinance.
