The following is the recap from the City Council meeting on Tuesday, November 22, 2022:

Highlights of action taken include:

  • Proclaimed November 2022 as Native American Heritage Month and November 26, 2022, as Small Business Saturday.
  • Approved the Local Appointments List and declared vacancies on the Planning Commission; Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission; Open Space Preservation District Financial Accountability and Audit Panel; and the Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control Board. 
  • Approved a one-year contract with Los Angeles County to receive Measure H funding in the amount of $193,443 to assist with the construction of Family Promise of Santa Clarita Valley’s interim housing facility and for a Homeless Service Coordinator to implement the 2022 Community Plan to Address Homelessness. 
  • Awarded a design contract to Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., for the Santa Clarita Sports Complex Buildout, for a total contract amount not to exceed $3,354,798. 
  • Approved the purchase and installation of professional grade ice coverings for The Cube – Ice and Entertainment Center, to allow for the hosting of non-ice events, for a total contract amount not to exceed $228,046. 
  • Awarded a contract to Sujin Lim, for the Civic Art Project, included with the Central Park Buildout Project, in the total amount of $85,000. 
  • Adjourned the meeting in memoriam of Don Edwards.
