The following is the recap from the City Council meeting on Tuesday, September 23, 2014:

CONSENT CALENDAR

1. Approval of Joint City Council and Board of Library Trustees minutes from the September 9, 2014 meetings – Approved 
2. Award contract for the City’s Annual Overlay and Slurry Seal Program to improve roadways throughout Santa Clarita – Approved
3. Award contract for annual Arundo and invasive plant removal from the Santa Clara River to improve water quality, increase water supply, and reduce the risk of flooding and wildfire hazards – Approved
4. Acquisition and transfer of land near Magic Mountain Parkway/Interstate 5 Interchange Improvements Project – Approved 
5. Award contract for traffic signal enhancements at the intersections of Lyons Avenue and Newhall Avenue, Whites Canyon Road and Pleasantdale Street, Copper Hill Drive and Decoro Drive, and McBean Parkway and Rockwell Canyon/Tournament Road. Modifications will provide protected left turns. – Approved
6. Award contract to Cultural Planning Group for professional consulting services in regards to the Arts Master Plan – Approved
7. Award contracts provide landscape maintenance in Landscape Maintenance Districts in the Summit and Newhall – Approved 
8. Check register No. 18 – Approved  

NEW BUSINESS

9.   Purchase of 114 acres of property in the Newhall Pass for preservation and increased access and trail connections to 60 acres of existing City-owned open space at Rivendale Ranch – Approved
10.   Purchase of vacant land in Canyon Country for the permanent home of the Canyon Country Community Center – Approved

FUTURE MEETINGS

Regular City Council meetings take place on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.  The next regular meeting will on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.
