The following is a recap of the City Council meeting on May 28, 2024:
Highlights of action taken include:
- Proclaimed the month of May 2024 as Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
- Recognized the City’s Public Works Department for receiving three awards from the American Public Works Association Southern California Chapter for Outstanding Capital Improvement Project.
- Conducted a public hearing and introduced and passed to a second reading an ordinance amending the Tourism Marketing District to include newly constructed hotels.
- Supported the following state legislative items: Assembly Bill 1990 and Senate Bill 1416.
- Opposed the following state legislative items: Assembly Bill 1886, Assembly Bill 2243, Senate Bill 937, and Senate Bill 1037.
- Approved plans and specifications for the 2023-24 Overlay C, Overlay D, and Slurry Seal projects and awarded several construction and professional service contracts in support of the three projects, for a total amount not to exceed $12,081,622.
- Adjourned the meeting in-memoriam of Jim Hogan, Michael Edward Jauregui, and Ed Dunn Jr.
