The following is a recap of the City Council regular meeting of April 14, 2026:

Highlights of actions taken include:

  • Proclaimed April 2026 as Autism Acceptance Month and National Volunteer Month.
  • Conducted a public hearing, held a first reading, and passed to a second reading an ordinance regarding amendments to the Santa Clarita Municipal Code’s accessory dwelling unit ordinance and two-unit development ordinance, and implementation of Housing Element Policy HP-2.1, pertaining to zoning for several housing types.
  • Adopted the City of Santa Clarita’s Fiscal Year 2026-27 Statement of Investment Policy.
  • Awarded a design contract to Architerra Design Group, for the Newhall Community Center Playground Renovation Project, for a total contract amount not to exceed $82,192.
  • Accepted a donation of Judith Modrak’s artwork, Endangered Fossils, located at West Creek Park into the City of Santa Clarita’s permanent public art collection.
  • Awarded contracts to Beam Global, ChargePoint, Inc., and H&S Electric, Inc., for the purchase and installation of three electric vehicle chargers at the Transit Maintenance Facility, for a total contract amount not to exceed $198,294, $57,222 and $47,300, respectively.
  • Extended the contract with MV Transportation, Inc., for the operation and maintenance of the City’s transit service system through June 28, 2028, in an amount not to exceed $32,056,649 in Fiscal Year 2026-27.
  • Adjourned the meeting in memory of Richard Patterson and Richard S. Musella.
