The following is a recap of the City Council regular meeting of September 22, 2026:
Highlights of actions taken include:
- Proclaimed September 2026 as Suicide Prevention Month and September 13 through September 19 as the Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week.
- Recognized twelve podium-finishing Santa Clarita figure skaters from the U.S. Figure Skating National Showcase Championships and recognized Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society’s 150th anniversary of the “Wedding of the Rails,” celebrating the rail connection between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
- Approved a Purchase and Sale Agreement with the Saugus Union School District to acquire the former Santa Clarita Elementary School site, in the amount of $13,000,000 and authorized $8,000 for escrow and due diligence fees.
- Awarded a two-year contract to Michael Baker International to update elements of the City’s General Plan to meet state law requirements, for a total contract amount not to exceed $363,000.
- Approved the Global War on Terror plaque to complete the existing Story Station at Veterans Historical Plaza.
- Awarded a contract to ZeroUp Energy, Inc., for the rental of temporary hydrogen refueling equipment and delivery of hydrogen in an amount not to exceed $1,726,000, to fuel the City’s hydrogen fuel cell electric buses while the permanent hydrogen production and fueling station is being constructed.
- Authorized the Amended and Restated Agreement with JV Ice at the Cube, LLC, for the operation and management of The Cube Ice and Entertainment Center, for a five-year term for a management fee not to exceed $1,207,337.

- Recognized Rhona Jukes as she prepares to retire after her 54-year career in the mortgage and real estate industry.
- Established a Bouquet Canyon Business Assistance Grant Program to provide temporary, financial assistance to eligible businesses experiencing documented economic hardship during the Bouquet Canyon Road closure.
- Adopted an ordinance amending the Santa Clarita Municipal Code to establish Objective Design Standards for multifamily and mixed-use development.
- Awarded a contract to West Coast Turf in the amount of $307,269 for the purchase and installation of sport grass sod for four multipurpose fields at Central Park.
- Awarded a three-year contract to Top Shelf Bar and Grille for the operation of The Wheel Restaurant at The Rink Sports Pavilion.

The following is a recap of the City Council regular meeting of August 25, 2026:
Highlights of actions taken include:
- Recognized the participants of the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program, the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Youth Grove and Tom and Alice Renolds for their work in establishing it, Gilchrist Farm’s 10-Year Anniversary, and the groundbreaking of SoCalGas Company’s Honor Rancho Compressor Modernization project.
- Conducted a public hearing and introduced an ordinance to establish objective design standards for multifamily and mixed-use development.
- Awarded contracts for Newhall Park Improvements Project design: a design contract to Pacific Coast Land Design, Inc., for park improvements, in a total contract amount not to exceed $2,027,446 and a design contract to Pacific Advanced Civil Engineering, Inc., for the regional stormwater infiltration facility, in a total contract amount not to exceed $471,658.
- Authorized the transfer of three Compressed Natural Gas buses from San Diego Metropolitan Transit System to the City, in an amount not to exceed $300,000 and authorized staff to enter into contracts to paint the buses and install automatic vehicle locating systems, in the amounts of $129,928 and $56,627, respectively.
- Awarded a construction contact to E&M Constructors, Inc., for the Bouquet Canyon Park Parking Lot Refurbishment Project, for a total contract not to exceed $333,460.
- Amended the existing contract with SWCA Environmental Consultants for the preparation of the Belcaro at Sand Canyon Project Environmental Impact Report and increased expenditure authority for a total contract amount not to exceed $423,850.

Highlights of actions taken include:
- Recognized Golden Valley High School Air Force Junior ROTC for its perfect score on its annual unit assessment.
- Adopted resolutions annexing and modifying the City of Santa Clarita Community Facilities District No. 2020-1 (Cooper Street Parking Structure).
- Adopted a resolution to adjust the Consolidated Fire Protection District developer fee from $1.6710 per square foot to $1.7601 per square foot in accordance with the Developer Fee Agreement between the City of Santa Clarita and the Consolidated Fire Protection District of Los Angeles County.
- Adopted the Arts Master Plan 2035: Vision and Action.
- Awarded a one-year contract to HR&A Advisors, Inc., for the development of an Affordable Housing Strategy Plan, Developer Grant Program, and related technical assistance services in an amount of $129,000.
- Awarded a contract to Gillig Corporation for two 29-foot Compressed Natural Gas buses, in an amount not to exceed $1,882,000.
- Awarded a two-year contract for Citywide street sweeping to CMAX Commercial Maintenance, Inc., for a total contract amount not to exceed $2,774,028.
- Awarded a construction contract for Phase I Shared Access Improvements at Haskell Canyon Open Space to R.C. Becker, Inc., for a total contract amount not to exceed $1,157,479 and a professional services contract to design Phase II to Psomas, for a total contract amount not to exceed $73,700.

The following is a recap of the City Council regular meeting of June 23, 2026:
Highlights of actions taken include:
- Recognized Sensei Rocky Whatule, a World Karate Commission and International Combat Organization, World and National gold medal champion, for the positive impact he makes as an instructor in Santa Clarita.
- Received a presentation on the 2026 Public Opinion Poll results.
- Conducted a public hearing and adopted a Tax Equity and Financial Responsibility Act resolution for the benefit of the Maple Housing Foundation, approving the issuance of tax-exempt obligations by the California Municipal Finance Authority, in an aggregate principal amount not to exceed $110 million.
- Adopted a policy regarding technology interruptions during City Council Meetings, as required by Senate Bill 707.
- Authorized the execution of an agreement with Los Angeles County for high-quality digital aerial imagery and elevation datasets, in an amount not to exceed $94,042.
- Approved an Infrastructure Reimbursement Agreement with River Walk Owner, LLC, to fund the installation of landscaping and irrigation for traffic medians, for a total amount not to exceed $1,135,787.
- Approved the acquisition of approximately 82 acres of real property northeast of the City, at a total cost of $251,322, and approximately 500 acres northeast of the City, at a total cost of $3,557,625, to expand the open space greenbelt surrounding the Santa Clarita Valley.
- Awarded a three-year contract to Larry Walker and Associates to implement the Upper Santa Clara River Coordinated Integrated Monitoring Plan, monitor water quality, conduct data analysis, and complete reporting consistent with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit compliance, for a total contract amount not to exceed $1,926,237.
- Awarded a construction contract to Golden Sun Enterprise, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $3,081,075 and a professional services contract to Pacific Advanced Civil Engineering, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $100,313 for the Newhall Park Pool Pump Room Replacement project.
