Both youth participants and parents/legal guardians must follow specific court guidelines.
Youth Participants
- Must sign consent agreement to waive their rights to a confidential hearing, prior to court proceedings.
- Must attend the court hearing, along with a parent or legal guardian.
- Must adhere to dress code and conduct during court proceedings.
- Must be prepared to answer the charges of the citation.
- Must be prepared to answer questions from the Judge about academic standing (grades, attendance), and to discuss future goals.
- Must be respectful to all Community Court and Teen Court staff (including instructors), otherwise additional sentencing can be imposed.
- Must sign Criminal Citation Contract or Traffic Citation Contract after you are sentenced by the Judge.
- Must complete all the conditions of the court order.
- Treat Judge and court staff with respect.
Parents/Legal Guardians
- Must sign consent agreement to waive their rights to a confidential hearing prior to court proceedings.
- Must attend the court hearing with their child.
- Must be prepared to answer the Judge on what type of consequences imposed by them on their child, as a result of their child’s citation.
- Must sign Criminal Citation Contract or Traffic Citation Contract after child is sentenced by the Judge.
- Adhere to dress code and conduct during court proceedings.
- Treat Judge and court staff with respect.
